Job Description |
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for the efficient operation and maintenance of mechanical and/or electrical equipment and housekeeping for assigned properties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Perform all plumbing, electrical or HVAC requirements of the building(s)
Maintain heaters, chillers, pumps, fan coil units, etc.
Monitor and adjust all mechanical/pneumatic equipment, control gauges, distributor panels, valves, thermostats, diffusers and other equipment necessary to provide a comfortable environment for the buildings
Repair doors, ceilings, hand railings, and floors
Perform preventive maintenance duties, including changing filters, oiling motors, replacing light fixtures, inspecting/adjusting belts, replacing motor bearings, aligning shafts and annual inspections as directed by manufacturers
Inspect engine room equipment, fan room equipment, cooling tower, all motors, house pumps and sump pumps
Document and report activities to supervisor
Respond immediately to emergency situations (fire, evacuation, equipment failure, etc.) and customer concerns
Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and company directives as relates to building operations and practice safe work habits
May be only maintenance staff member on duty during certain shifts; may be required to work extended periods of time without relief when responding to priority/emergency situations (including overtime type assignments); may require shift work and/or on call duties
Other duties may be assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides formal supervision to individual employees within a work unit and/or group. Responsible for identifying training needs, tracking performance, coaching, and motivating direct reports.
QUALIFICATIONS

Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and good driving record with periodic checks

Job Description |
POSITION PURPOSE:
The purpose of the Senior Data Center/ Facilities Engineer is to provide a safe, clean, organized data center environment while continually planning for growth by forecasting needs in advance. Hostway is seeking a technically and mechanically minded individual to oversee data center facilities maintenance and expansion, including electrical, HVAC, and security systems. In addition to working with the local lead staff, this individual will also interface with facilities personnel in other company locations, and with outside contractors and vendors. This individual will act as the interface between teams, local contractors and employees responsible for maintenance and operation of the facility (including mechanical and electrical systems and general management/maintenance of the building itself).
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist in coordinating preventative maintenance on all environmental controls, electrical equipment, fire suppression systems, security systems and related facilities infrastructure.
• Assist in maintaining a run book of procedures for natural disasters, fire and other possible risks associated with running an Internet data center 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
• Work to develop and maintain a complete risk assessment inventory database that includes all systems within data centers.
• Work closely with the other departments to develop and maintain a facilities plan for future growth and planned projects
• Maintain effective controlled access storage areas within our leased space.
• Assist department heads with cubicle and office planning.
• Solving problems using analytical, technical, and organizational abilities
• Understanding and documenting facilities infrastructure
• Monitoring equipment (generator, breaker panels, etc)
• Responding to facilities-based alerts and problems
• Producing weekly and monthly reports
• Day-to-day facilities maintenance
• Perform other duties as assigned
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School Diploma required; a minimum of 2 years of college strongly preferred.
• A minimum of 3 years experience in data center or commercial facilities maintenance.
• Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects.
• Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills.
• An undergraduate degree in an appropriate technical field.
• A good understanding of electrical and mechanical systems in use in a data center environment including feeders, generators, PDUs, cooling systems, and UPS systems.
• Strong knowledge of IT.
• Must have the ability to prioritize and manage one's time effectively
• Exceptional oral and written English communication skills are a definite requirement along with excellent computer skills and Internet proficiency
• Ability to effectively deal with change and ambiguity
• Ability to continually learn new technologies.
• Must be able to use common tools to perform needed facilities maintenance.
• Ability to lift 75lbs.
• Available for on-call duties as necessary
