The Chili Slam is a unique event created by the Austin Association of Facility & Maintenance Engineers in 1992. The first event was held in a open lot behind 100 Congress (hosted by Lincoln Properties). That same lot is now a underground parking garage. It started out as a volleyball tournament with (1) net and approximately (5) teams. We held the event at Zilker Park for many years until recently we moved to Krieg Field on S. Pleasant Valley. In 2002 we added chili-cook off competition which is a very popular event. In 2003 we held a contest to name the then 11 year old event and the contest winner was "Chili Slam". Since then we have added horseshoes, washers, brisket and jackpot. Each year brings bigger & better events and participation. We average 100 teams overall which equals 700+ people. This is a private event for AAFAME & BOMA members as a member appreciation day! Those who have attended never miss another one!
The mission of the Chili Slam is to provide an event with an atmosphere of camaraderie, healthy competition and fun for the members of the building management services industry.
Event will be held rain or shine!
